INTRO: Indonesian woman suspected to have bird flu dies in Bali.  An Indonesian woman showing symptoms of bird flu has died on the resort island of Bali, where the H5N1 virus has already killed two women in the past two weeks, health officials said on Sunday (August 26).

STORY: The 42-year-old woman, who died on Saturday (August 25) at Bali's main hospital had a high fever and inflammation of the lungs and was first diagnosed with pneumonia, said the head of the hospital's bird flu ward.

It was not known if the woman had any contact with sick birds. An official at the bird flu information centre in Jakarta said that the centre is waiting to receive samples to test for the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus.

On Sunday (August 26) Health officials in Bali province sprayed disinfectant in bird cages and chicken coops in the neighbourhood of the woman's house.

Indonesia has had 105 confirmed human cases from bird flu, of which 84 have proved fatal. Bali had not suffered any human fatalities from the disease until this month, when two women died in separate locations.

Officials, who fear the human bird flu outbreak in Bali could hit tourism, have ordered the culling of thousands of chickens and introduced a ban on transporting fowl. Many restaurants have also removed poultry dishes from their menus.

The tourism industry in Bali, a predominantly Hindu island in mostly Muslim Indonesia, is starting to recover after suicide bombers killed more than 200 people in late 2002, and another 20 people in October 2005.

The island regularly hosts large international conventions and is due to hold an important U.N. climate change conference in December which about 10,000 people are expected to attend.

A provincial health department official, Ketut Subrata, told reporters that a team would be sent to the neighbourhood where the woman lived for further investigation. Contact with sick fowl is the most common way for humans to contract the disease.

This year, Finnish competitor Tommi Huotari took gold in the traditional heat, with a throw of 89.62 metres in the distance event, a few metres short of the world record.  "I am sure that everybody would like to throw his phone every once in a while so now I got to fulfill this dream and it felt nice," he said.

To highlight the playful side of the competition, a freestyle event judged on aesthetics is included. The gold in this event was shared by Taco Cohen from the Netherlands and the youngest competitor Elina Pitkanen of Finland who is only 1 year and 11 months old.

Cohen, who also celebrated his 19th birthday on Saturday and whose act included acrobatics
and juggling, told Reuters while juggling:  "For this event I have not really practised. I have just seen the Dutch championship and I was nearby so I enlisted."  "Because I won the Dutch championships, I was told to come here, and they flew me in," he explained further.

Before taking the podium as the world champion in mobile phone throwing Tommi Huotari admitted: "Actually this was the first time..I have never tried before but it seems good so I will be here next year also."

INTRO: Indian pop singer refuses state award by western Goa. Indian pop singer Remo Fernandes turned down an award announced by his native western Goa state, accusing the government of nepotism and bringing about environmental degradation.

STORY: Pop singer Remo Fernandes(
雷莫·費爾南德斯) on Saturday (August 18) refused to accept an award announced by his native western Goa state(果亞省), accusing the government of nepotism and bringing about environmental degradation. The award, given by the state government's art and culture department, was due to be presented on Saturday.

Fernandes, who has belted out hits like "Bombay City", "Pack that smack" and "Politicians don't know how to Rock'n'Roll", some with social messages and satires, said he was upset with the state government's Regional Plan 2011 that would turn the laidback coastal tourist hotspot into a concrete jungle.

"The refusal of the award was a protest. It was a public protest against the fact that the government of Goa is made up of all the ministers and politicians who are rejected by the people of Goa due to famous Regional Plan just a few months ago, whereby they were trying to sell and rape most of Goa intercity to commercial and construction site - destroying mangroves, beaches, hills and rice fields. And same politicians are today in power through backdoors or horsetrading," he said.

Fernandes also asked the state government to donate the 50,000 rupees cash reward to Goa Bachao Abhiyan (Save Goa Campaign), an NGO. Fernandes, who received the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award in January, said the state award at this stage was irrelevant to his stature.

The tiny Goa state has a history of unstable governments, with legislators from smaller parties switching sides between the Congress and Hindu nationalist  Bharatiya Janata Party.

INTRO: An Indonesian entrepreneur creates a successful business by turning marine life into art.An entrepreneur in Indonesia shows how creative thinking led him to start a successful business involving nothing more than crabs, shells and brightly coloured paint.

STORY: For those who love pets of the fishy variety, an Indonesian businessman could offer a colourful new addition to their collection. One man in West Java has come up with a creative way to promote the sale of an unusual household pet.The Strawberry Land Hermit Crab(
草莓陸寄居蟹) or "coenobita perlatus(橙紅陸寄居蟹)" is popular among Indonesians who keep the low-cost and low-maintenance crustaceans as pets.

But now, 24-year-old Hany Faroko, has stumbled upon an innovative idea that has helped promote the pet internationally. All it takes is a small business, made up of a handful of workers including his brother, a few spraypaint guns, some shells, and a dash of creativity. He and his business team collect shells from the millions found along the coast of West Java and then set about intricately decorating each one.
Once the shells are dry, the hermit crabs, which he collects from Papua, are placed back into their new colourful homes. Some 2 tonnes of crabs are brought from Papua to Jakarta every two weeks to keep his business running.

Faroko's company started off by selling unpainted hermit crabs. But the idea to paint them was born some eight years ago when he saw other types of shells decorated by artists in the United States.
His new and improved business now sees him selling the painted hermit crab shells to locals in Indonesia as well as to customers abroad in both the United States and South Korea.

Each crab sells for around one and a half to two U.S. dollars, depending on size, but the big money comes from exports. His income has doubled since he started painting the shells and his company's nett profit each month now equals tens of thousands of dollars.

INTRO: South Korean unification minister meets with the former president, Kim
Dae-jung to discuss upcoming summit.South Korea's Unification Minister Lee Jae-jeong met with the former President Kim Dae-jung, who led the first North-South summit seven years ago.

STORY: South Korean unification minister visited the former president on Saturday (August 11) to seek advice for the second Inter-Korean summit scheduled to be held at the end of the month.

Former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung went to Pyongyang to hold the first historical summit between two Koreas in June 2000, and the summit was hailed as a breakthrough in bringing a chance of peace to the Cold War's last frontier.

"The denuclearisation will bring a peaceful system to the Korean peninsular and based on the system, the two Koreas will have economic growth in the future," said Lee Jae-jeong (
李在禎), South Korea's unification minister.

The two Koreas earlier announced that the summit would be in Pyongyang between August 28-30. It follows moves by Pyongyang to implement an agreement with regional powers to end its nuclear weapons programmes in return for massive aid.

"Kim Dae-jung expects because him and Kim Jong-il(
金正日) made good progress through talks rather than formalities during the last summit, President Roh Moo-hyun and Kim Jong-il should also be able to achieve a good outcome through open-minded talks," said Lee.

The Roh government has been criticised for being too accommodating to what many consider a renegade state. Roh is under strong pressure at home to win concessions from the North, especially greater commitment to nuclear disarmament, resolving the highly-emotional issues of South Koreans kidnapped decades ago and still held in the North and reunions of families divided at the end of the 1950~53 war.

INTRO: Musharraf critic freed from prison after court order. An opposition leader in Pakistan, sentenced to life in jail for defaming the army, is released on bail by Pakistan's Supreme Court.

STORY: A leader of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League(
巴基斯坦穆斯林聯盟), which is headed by former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif(納瓦茲謝里夫), has been released from jail.

Makhdoom Javed Hashmi(
馬克頓爪哇德哈席米), who was found guilty of defaming the army, was freed on bail by the Supreme Court on Saturday (August 4). It's another setback to embattled President General Pervez Musharraf(佩爾韋茲·穆沙拉夫).

The decision to release Hashmi, de facto leader of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League, came a day after Sharif petitioned the court seeking his return to the country.

Hundreds of cheering activists and supporters of the Muslim League greeted Hashmi as he emerged from prison in the eastern city of Lahore.
They chanted "Go Musharraf ".

Hashmi, one of Musharraf's most outspoken critics, was arrested in 2003 for circulating an unsigned letter to reporters purporting to come from the army. The letter criticised Musharraf's support for the U.S.-led war on terror and called for an investigation into the 1999 Kargil conflict when Pakistan and India fought a limited war in the disputed region of Kashmir. Musharraf headed the army at the time of the conflict.

On Wednesday Hashmi's leader, former prime minister Sharif, petitioned the court seeking an order to stop the government from obstructing his return to the country after seven years of exile. Musharraf overthrew Sharif in 1999 and sent him and his family into exile in Saudi Arabia in 2000 in an apparent deal brokered by the Saudi royal family.

飛越風雨的鴿子

( ※  2007.08 背景音樂強力放送中....)

作曲/演奏:托尼 作詞/演唱:Drew Parker

---------【歌詞】---------

I see you drifting through the veil of night, my lost young child
These torn clothes and your face is bruised and red, what's happened child?
Did you say your parents were kidnapped?
No child, your parents can't be dead!
My little lotus flower, crying in the dark
Lotus flower, you've been starving in the streets, it breaks my heart
Lotus flower, how can a child they beat, it breaks my heart

Child I will take you in
Child I will bring you home
And bring happiness back to you
No more you'll suffer alone
Child we will take you in
Child we will bring you home
You'll be a flower that sees the spring
Soon a dove flying high over the storm

My young child, you scream each night fearing the monsters will come
And take your Grandma, just like they broke down your door and took your mom
Did you say your teacher expelled you?
Even though you get the best grades in school?
My little lotus flower, crying in the dark
Lotus flower, it's not wrong to tell the truth, or to be kind
Lotus flower, how can I stand by silent, your life's on the line?

Child I will take you in
Child I will bring you home
And bring happiness back to you
No more you'll suffer alone
Child we will take you in
Child we will bring you home
You'll be a flower that sees the spring
Soon a dove flying high over the storm
Soon a dove high over the storm
