INTRO: International pop stars descend upon the Japanese city of Saitama(琦玉市) for the annual MTV Japan awards. The glitz and glamour of the international pop star scene descended upon the MTV Japan Video Award in Saitama city. 


STORY: Four thousand guests crowded into the Saitama Super Arena(日本東京崎玉縣的崎玉超級競技場) on Saturday (May 31) to catch the world of international and national pop stars perform for the annual MTV Video Music Awards(年度MTV錄影帶大獎). Some, such as rapper Flo Rida(佛羅里達) and MySpace success story Colbie Caillat(蔻比凱蕾), perform on stage by the red carpet.

Caillat, who rose to world-wide success thanks to the internet social networking site MySpace, said her success still didn't feel real to her. Flo Rida, one of the US's hottest rappers was blown away by the reception he got in Japan. "It was really great. They got low, the crowd was definitely feeling the vibe so just to be here in another country is definitely something I am not going to take for granted. So I look forward to coming back time and time again and just showing some love," he told Reuters.

Meanwhile, Grammy award winning Fergie talked about her role in the up coming "Sex in the City" movie. "It was a trip watching it and sit there and see all the girls and to hear my song in the film. I am such a fan of the show," she said when asked about how it felt to have her song, 'Label or Love' released on the Sex and the City:The Movie soundtrack.

However it was Paris Hilton, the Hollywood socialite and Hotel heiress, that stole the show on the red carpet with her candid talk about her boyfriend Benji Madden(本基‧馬登). "We're very happy, very in love. So we'll see if the future holds," Paris said of her life with Benji. Inside the Saitama Arena, U2's Bono, Mariah Carey and rapper Nelly also joined the crowd.

Fergie took home the "Best Female Video" of the year award for her title "Big Girls Don't Cry". Mariah Carey clinched the MTV Video Vanguard Award. And Avril Lavigne, the "Best Pop Video" title. Japanese R & B group Exile clinched the "Best Album of the Year" award, "Best Karaokee! Song" and "Best Video of the Year" award. The event was aired live on Japanese MTV channel and replayed on other MTV channels through out Asia.
